Small Garden Successes

Today was a garden first – we harvested a fully grown zucchini! I’d been tracking the zucchini progress and decided that it had finally gotten big enough to be useful. I’ve never sucessfully grown zucchini before so this was a proud moment: 

I have no idea if it tastes any good, but it sure looks nice!

After harvesting the zucchini I thinned the carrots (something I hate doing because I feel bad killing off the littlest carrots) and the rejects were big enough to eat:

I packed them in our lunch even though we only got three mini-carrots each. I’m thinking of them like a little sample of what’s to come – just enough fresh carrots to get me excited about the rest. Gardening has become even more fun now that we’re eating what’s growing!
