Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

I heard about Pride and Prejudice and Zombies several months ago, but just recently got out a copy of it from the library. I figured the combination of classic novel and zombies couldn’t be any worse than many of the books I’ve read, and was intrigued by the idea of “all new scenes of bone-crunching zombie mayhem”. My first thought on starting the book was ” crap, there are a lot of words” but I soon got over the fact that Elizabeth Bennet needed an entire paragraph to say anything, and started to enjoy the read. I’ve never read Pride and Prejudice (without added zombies), so even just the story of Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy was entertaining for me. I know that the original novel has absolutely no zombies in it, but they seem to fit into the story pretty well. It seems a little random at first, but you get used to the idea of zombies showing up all over the place, and characters being killed off by zombies. In fact, I will now have to read the actual novel, so that I can figure out how the story worked without the zombies. Several key parts of the “expanded edition” depend on either a zombie attack, ninjas or the fact that Elizabeth was a trained killer, and I’d like to know how Jane Austen made it work without.
