I noticed I am typically very bad about posting when we get our first big snow fall each year. I always seems to post when I see the first crocuses but never capture the first real snow. Snow doesn’t always equal winter, just like crocuses don’t guarantee spring weather, but I think they are a good general indicator of the coming conditions when observed at certain times of the year.

I think my problem last year was that I was in Saskatchewan in the middle of November. I know that last year we had a big snow storm by the end of November and that there wasn’t any snow on the ground on November 11 (I biked to the zoo and I don’t bike in snow) but I’m not sure what happened in between.

I think I’ll be a bit more accurate than that this year – the weather forecast tonight is for a winter storm, and I can see the snow falling outside my window right now. Unless things improve drastically by morning, I expect to see some of the white stuff on the ground when the dog and I head out tomorrow morning for our walk.
