Lots of great looking veggies this week. My bag was so heavy with two bags of potatoes, a cabbage, cauliflower, carrots, onions, beets, tomatoes, leeks, kale, garlic and parsley. I ate the kale and leeks tonight, but I still have so many veggies in the fridge.
Flowers were back this week too – a giant sunflower that doesn’t feel like fall at all.
I was surprised to get so much with my CSA this week because it feels like the gardens are almost done. My gardens are really just waiting for me to find the time to dig out the old plants and prep them for winter. There is a frost warning tonight so I harvested the last of the lettuce tonight (it’s starting to go anyways) and finally got the dill into the freezer. There were still 6 or so tomatoes on the vines that were just about ready so I pulled those inside to ripen. That’s about it for veggies, except the kale and the apples. Even though the kale won’t mind the cold I threw a sheet overtop of the bed to protect it and the swiss chard, and I’ll just hope that a little frost doesn’t bother the apples at all.
