Friday was the last day of the HBBC. This week was a lot better than the last few weeks in terms of exercise but just as relaxing. I managed to run 5 days, get in lots of walking and go to my first yoga class in over a month.
Saturday – 2.5 mile run + 2.5 mile walk: We took the dogs out for a 2.5 mile walk and then I ran 2.5 miles to finish off my running year with 1001 miles.
Sunday – 0.75 mile walk: A quick walk with the dog before we drove home.
Monday – 3 mile run + 0.25 mile walk + weights: I started this spring’s marathon training with an easy 3 mile run with Patches and a 0.25 mile cool down walk. I had one session of NROL Level 2 left so I also lifted some weights. It’s been far too long since I did any strength exercises because I was so sore after.
Tuesday – 5 mile run + 2.25 mile walk: I ran to the library and took the dog out for a few walks.
Wednesday – 3 mile run: An easy day that was just the run with the dog. I was still sore from Monday’s weight session.
Thursday – 3 mile walk + Bikram yoga class + 7 fruit and veggies: My first yoga class of 2012 and my first yoga class in over a month. I had a great, strong class but I can feel where I have really tightened up. I need to cross train more!
Friday – 5 mile run + 5 miles walked + abs: I never ran pace runs during my last training so I’m giving it a try this time. I ran 5 miles at an average pace of 8:35 /mile. Then we did a nice long dog walk which helped me stretch out my legs.
Total Points for the Week: 39.75
Overall I’ve really enjoyed this challenge. It probably didn’t make me run anymore, but I was more conscious of walking more. I really didn’t do well with the 7 servings of fruits/veggies but it made me more aware of it and I’m going to work on eating more veggies every day. HBBC gave me something to focus on in the “between time” from my half marathon to starting training again and I liked that. Unfortunately I didn’t achieve my goal of 35 points/week but I came close with a total of 239.75.
