This was our first weekend home since vacation started and it was nice to do things around our house. Friday I just puttered around the house because Jon was home sick and then we went for a very rainy bike ride downtown to visit friends.
We started Saturday with the Bowness Stampede Parade. It starts just down the hill from us and had lots of interesting “floats”.
Patches did pretty well, only getting a little anxious when the pipe band came by.
After the parade we decided it was finally time to add bedding plants to our yard and went to the garden centre. It was 50% off time so we got lots of fun plants for the yard. Some basil and lavender plus lots of flowers. Hopefully the bees like having a few blooms in the yard – the bumble bees have already found the lavender and are hard at work.
After we got everything planted we headed down to the stampede to check it out and see the chuck wagon races. We went to the rodeo last year but neither of us had been to the chucks or grandstand show before. We saw the races, tried some food and then watched the crazy grandstand show which had singing, dancing, acrobats, a guy who played the piano while it was suspended over the crowd, fireworks and lots more.
Our late Saturday night meant the we were pretty tired so on Sunday we puttered around. We did some work in the garden before curious bees forced us to work elsewhere. I cleaned our my freezer, fridge and cupboards as part of my de-cluttering goal. There was also some of this:
Which made for a fun and relaxing weekend!
