Fall Break Plans – Chicago!

I can’t believe it’s been 5 weeks back at work already. In August I always wish for the extra time off but now that we’re into the swing of things I’m thankful that instead I get a week long break in October. That week long break is only 3 weeks away and is going to be an excellent opportunity to refresh and relax. Last year we travelled to Invermere for a couple of days, but this year we’re being a little more adventurous and heading to Chicago!

I’m not exactly sure how we decided on Chicago but I’m really excited to explore the city. With our flights we end up with 4 nights and 4 days. Our hotel is right downtown so we can walk almost everywhere and there seems to be a ton of stuff to do! We’ve got a few things booked, a list of “must sees” and hopefully some few hours to fit in other adventures.

So far…

We’ve booked tickets for an architecture boat cruise one afternoon and to a hockey game one evening.

I plan to pick up CityPASSes and visit the Shedd Aquarium, the Skydeck, the Field Museum and the Museum of Science and Industry. I can’t decide between the art museum or the planetarium.

We’ll go see The Bean at Millennium Park, Buckingham Fountain in Grant Park (as long as it us still running), Navy Pier and what’s left of the World Fair at Jackson Park.

I’d like to bike along the lakeshore path, go to the zoo and wander the streets. We’ve got to eat pizza, cupcakes, hot dogs and beef sandwiches. It would be fun to dine out nice somewhere one evening and check out Magnificent Mile.

It’s going to be a busy four days but I’m sure it will be very enjoyable. I enjoy trips best when we’ve got firm plans for parts of each day and time to tackle things on our list at our own pace so our itinerary is shaping up exactly how I’d like it!

Those who have been to Chicago – any must sees, dos and eats I’m missing from my list?
